New year resolutions

That time of the year again, we all look for a fresh start. Get mentally, physically, emotionally fit in the new year.

From my childhood memories, we never celebrated New Year’s Eve, never made new year resolutions, we just wished who ever we met on the New Year’s Day or few days after “Happy New Year” general rule in Sri Lanka was you don’t wish the person back Happy New Year but say “wish you the same” or “same to you”

It is not the same now, we all look for that quick fix to fix everything we need to fix in the New Year. A gym membership to get fit, meditation app subscription, get all possible self help books, subscription to an app to track how we Eat, Sleep, Play and even Poop.

Before we run that credit card at the gym or hit the subscribe button for an app, let’s first see how friends around us can help.

In the current dynamic world, hard to find that one best friend who is jack of all trades, our friends and family around us can help us and we help them to make 2024 a better year.

Regular walk, cycling, jogging with that friend who live to play

Regular coffee mornings with that friend who is a morning person and a good listener

Regular chat with that friend who always got something new to share – book, movie, place . . .

Regular travel with that friend who enjoy exploring

Regular game day with that friend to pick a new sport

Regular meal with that friend who is a healthy eating fanatic

Regular visit to the template with that friend who is a spiritual guru

Regular glass of wine with that friend who make you feel age is irrelevant unless for wine

Life is beautiful with all of you to share with

If we want to see the future sooner, it all starts with changing the present by learning from the past.
